A Hold on His Heart

A Hold on His Heart is now Available at ARE and Amazon!!

BLURB:

It’s just another day at the office for clerk, Justin Myers. After a fun night at his favorite club, he’s nursing a hangover at his desk, instead of sleeping if off at home in his comfortable bed. To his surprise, a coworker, Preston, goes out of his way to help him feel better.

Even with the headache from hell, Justin begins to slowly realize the seemingly-straight, nerdy engineer might have a crush on him. Because they are so different, Justin doesn't know how he feels about the gentle flirtation and friendship, Preston, so freely offers to him. But as Preston continues to push himself into his life and heart, Justin realizes that love may not have boundaries after all.

Excerpt:

Chapter One

Justin jogged to his cubicle and quickly slid onto his desk chair. He glanced at his watch and gave a sigh of relief. Even though it was only a couple of minutes until eight, he was still on time. Justin opened the top side drawer of his desk and hunted through it until he found the small bottle of Advil. Shaking it a little, he frowned when he didn’t hear any contents rattle inside of it.

Shit. It’s empty.

Silently cursing himself for not refilling the bottle when he took the last two pills a few days ago, he tossed it into the trash and rubbed his aching temples lightly with the tips of his fingers.

Damn, he shouldn't have gone to the club on a work night.

Justin had had intentions of spending his Wednesday night alone chilling out in front of the television, but when his friend Tim called and asked for Justin to meet him and a few more of his friends for three-dollar pitcher night, it was an offer that Justin couldn't refuse.

Now his happy ass sat in his uncomfortable desk chair at work without any medication to help his pounding head, when all Justin really wanted to do was nurse his hangover at home.

Why did I have to do that last tequila shot?

"Good morning, Justin."

Justin glanced up and saw his co-worker, Preston, looking down at him with a small, welcoming smile on his face.

"Morning, Preston," he answered. He glanced at the tall, slim man's khaki pants and blazing yellow shirt and grimaced.

Damn, someone's dressed brightly today. Justin closed his eyes to blot out the offensive color that made his aching head pound even harder.

"I've finished the calculations needed on the Pulaski County job. I'll put the report on your desk in a few minutes," Preston said. Justin jumped when he felt a warm hand settle on his shoulder. "Hey, are you alright? You don't look yourself today."

Justin forced himself to open his eyes and give Preston what he hoped was a pleasant smile despite the man's offensive shirt. "I'm fine. I woke up with a little headache, but I'm sure it'll pass."

Preston cocked his head to the side and a concerned look passed over his face. "Sorry about your headache. Is there anything I can do to help?"

Yeah, change that horrible shirt.

"No," Justin said instead. "I'll be alright, thanks." He gave Preston a wink and turned to the work that waited on his desk. He heard Preston give a quiet sigh and walk away.

Good. He didn't need Preston or his ghastly shirt hovering over him today.

Getting back into the groove of things...

Things are slowly getting back to normal for us. After the shock of my brother-in-law's death, my husband and I are tentatively getting back into the groove of things. Strangely, it's like both of us can't get enough sleep. Admittedly, for about 2 weeks we didn't sleep worth a flip, so I figure the lack of sleep is catching up with both of us.

We had the privilege of keeping our niece for several days. She's back at home now, but her cheery presence and sweet disposition was really a much needed stress relief for us. The day we took her home we went out to Lake DeGray near Hot Springs. My sister has recently purchased a boat, so it was really great to ride along the open water and forget about our cares for the day.

Now we are home and it's good to be back. I love our babies and I hate being away from them. I miss their sweet cuddles and have a hard time sleeping without them piled up in the bed with us. I love going away for a few days, but it's always great to come home.

I've got a deadline to meet and hopefully will have my Christmas story finished by the end of next week. Afterward, I'm working on Deimos's story, a new WIP and the next Circle of Friends story. I'm ready to tackle them and get some new stuff out there.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

What is normal?

We buried my brother in law. To watch my husband grieve is one of the hardest things I'll ever do.  At times it didn't feel real...almost like we were in a bad movie. We are trying to get back to normal this week. He will return to work and I am going to start promoting my release, A Hold on His Heart. (What is normal anyway? Will things ever feel right again?)  But first, I thought I'd make one more tribute to him.

He is loved. He is missed.

He is missed.

Two days ago we experienced a great loss. My brother in law was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was 27 years old and had two daughters.

He had left for work early Thursday morning. Since it was foggy, he had his headlight on, and as always, he wore his helmet. Since he lived in a small town, the road he travelled on was a 2 lane highway and visibility was bad because it was foggy that morning. There was a person in the oncoming lane who decided to pass an 18 wheeler. My brother in law and the person driving the vehicle never saw each other coming until it was too late. It was a head on collision and they say he probably died instantly, which is the one thing that is comforting when it comes to this tragedy.

His name was Jimmy Ray, but we all called him JR. He and my sweet husband didn't always see eye to eye, but they loved each other, and had their love of music in common. JR was 27 years old and had a lot of life and happiness left in him when he passed away. I think of the young boy he was when I first met him. He had a loving heart and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. He had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. He will be missed and I can only hope that this huge loss will one day not be as hard as it is today.

Please keep him and my husband and his family in your thoughts and prayers. If I've learned anything from this is this...always treasure the time you have and the people you love. I want everyone to know how much I appreciate all of you and love you as well. Be safe.

Sasha's in Love

I had to share these pictures to you. I received my paperback copies of, No Greater Love, the other day. My cat, Sasha, is totally in love with the cover art. Apparently, he has a crush on Eros (watch out Keith...lol) and loves to snuggle up to him! It's so funny and too sweet for words :)

I just turned in final edits for The Sweet One. It will be re-released at the end of the month through Mischief Corner Books. I'm thrilled with the new edits and really like the cover art. (Thank you, Freddy) As soon as I get a release date, I'll definitely let y'all know.

A Hold on His Heart will be re-released in July! Whoop!

My Men of Charlestown series should be re-released by the end of the year. I have several works in process. I am currently writing the next book in the Men of Charlestown series, Deimos' book on my Sons of Aphrodite series, a Christmas Story called All I want for Christmas is You and the next book in the Circle of Friends series. As you can tell, I've been very busy and I'm very excited to get my mojo back and get some new releases out there.

More news coming this week. I hope everyone has a great week ahead!! *HUGS*

Guess who caught a Fish :)

It's been a while since I've posted some pictures of my niece. As you can tell, she's growing like a weed! Yesterday, she and her Dad went fishing and they climbed Pinnacle mountain. They had a lot of fun and I wanted to share some of their pics with you.

She's been accepted into her school's Gifted and Talented for next year. I'm so proud of the young girl she has become! I can't wait to spend more time with her this summer. I miss her.

I hope everyone has a great day:)

No Greater Love and More News!

Hello Friends!

I'm super excited to announce that my book, No Greater Love, will be re-released May 24th through Mischief Corner Books! I'm absolutely in love with the cover art for it, too! It captures my hero, Eros, perfectly and I couldn't be happier with it. He's beautiful, isn't he?

Not only will it be available in ebook format, it will also be available in paperback too. I'm thrilled about this because I know so many readers aren't crazy about e-books. I know I can't wait to get my greedy hands on my own paperback copy.

The great thing about this re-release is...I finally get to write the second book in the series. Because of the Silver mishap, I refused to write the sequel, so now Deimos will be thrilled to finally get his own HEA, too! But before I get to his story, I have a Christmas story I'm about to start and a current WIP that will hopefully be finished soon, so I can get to the sequel to this book and finally finish my Men of Charlestown series.

After many days of thinking and several hours of talking with my hubby, I think I'm going to stick with my current publishers eXtasy and Siren Bookstrand. Mischief Corner Books will by my main home. I love my friends there and enjoy working with them, plus I know I can trust them, which is a huge thing for me. After being burned so badly with Silver, I'm a little gun-shy about working with others. Silver's situation really did a number on me and my fellow authors, but I'm grateful to have my rights back and even more thankful that I'll be able to get my previous releases back out there and continue my series where I left off with a publisher that I trust.

I'm also happy to announce that The Sweet One is scheduled for re-release in June, A Hold on His Heart in July and hopefully my Men of Charlestown series soon afterward through Mischief Corner books.

No Greater Love is currently available for pre-order.

Information

I am no longer a Silver author. *Thank God*

It doesn't surprise me what a deceitful person Leiland Dale is.

To read more about his fraud and deception, please go here: http://www.ajllewellyn.com/site/2014/04/10/2170/

I'll have more to say in a couple of days. I need some time to recover.

Ready or not...Changes are coming

Anyone who follows me has probably realized it's been a difficult couple of years for me. I'm still not going to reveal a lot about what's been going on, only that all of the books I had published through Silver Publishing are off their site, and will not be available through them again.

This means I have some hard decisions to make. What do I do with them? Do I self-publish? Do I submit them to other publishing houses?  What houses to do send them too?

This is my dilemma. Not many publishers want books that's already been released. Don't worry though, the Men Of Charlestown series WILL continue on. I'm determined that sweet Daniel will finally get his own story.

I do have definite plans for at least a couple of my books, (that I'm very excited about) which I will reveal when I get my rights back.

So I ask all of you to be patient with me until I get things straightened out.  I promise not to let you down.

News

Sorry it's been a couple of weeks since my last post. It's been kinda crazy here, so I'll try and update you guys as much as possible.

On the personal side:  We did go see my niece and we had a great time. We also have temporarily inherited my sister's two dogs for a couple of months. Why? Well...several weeks ago Little Rock had sub-zero temperatures. Even though she had all of her faucets running, her pipes still froze and ended up bursting. The water damage is very extensive. She has had to replace the walls, almost all of her furniture and flooring on the bottom floor of her house. The top floor is what they call a bonus room. It has a queen bed, bathroom and television up there. Up until a couple of weeks ago, my sister, brother-in-law and niece were sharing the room together because the bottom floor is totally unlivable right now. Because of the workers who are in and out of their home and because of the noise, their two elderly mini-pins were having a hard time coping. So, since their two dogs have always gotten along with our four legged babies, we offered to keep them while they get everything straightened out. I was worried how my cat Sasha and their dogs would get along, but luckily, they just ignore each other...Yay!! It's been an adjustment because both dogs have been VERY spoiled by my loving sister and so they are persistent when it comes to sticking to me like glue...lol.  We still love them though and it's been an entertaining time for us. ;)

On the business side of things...I have asked for all of my rights back from Silver Publishing. I am in the process of getting No Greater Love, Kissed by Death, Angel's Redemption and A Hold on his Heart back. As soon as these titles are taken down from other distributing sites and from Silver they will be mine again. I plan on resubmitting these titles elsewhere, and well I'm pretty excited about it.

Now as far as the rest of the Men of Charlestown series and The Sweet One is concerned...I'll keep you posted. Until things are resolved with this series in particular, it has been put on hold. (by me) I'll let you guys know when or if things change. I hate it because I'm so ready to finish the series and for y'all to see how everything turns out, but for a while, we'll all have to wait. Sigh.

I'll be taking my titled artwork down as soon as my books are released to me. I want to thank everyone for your support and encouragement you've given me. All I ask if for you to please hang in there with me while I get everything straightened out.

Happy Monday

Over the weekend my niece went to the annual Daddy Daughter Dance at her school. She was pretty excited to go and loved her new red dress.  Snow White and her daddy had a great time together and I think she's already looking forward to it next year. I love this tradition that she and her daddy have together. I think it's sweet that they get to spend some time together and make special memories that they'll never forget.
She's growing up so quickly and in some ways it makes me mourn for the little girl we are steadily losing. It seems like it was yesterday when she first started walking and talking everyone's ears off. I love the person she is becoming. What makes her special in my eyes is that she is as beautiful on the inside as I think she is on the outside. Her smile will light up a room and bring joy to those who know her. I rejoice in knowing that she is growing up in a loving environment and in some ways look forward to seeing the woman she will one day become. I'm spending time with her this week and I can't wait to see her. I haven't seen my family since Christmas and I'm anxious to visit with them.

I hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Happy Weekend!

I hope everyone survived Valentine's Day. Mine was quiet. My husband had to work, so I watched movies and kept my four legged babies company.

I don't have a lot to report. I've been writing and doing some reading...otherwise it's been a pretty quiet week.

Happy Saturday and have a great weekend!

Happy Monday! Looks like we're going to celebrate it with more ice and snow

This past week we have had a lot of snow and ice. Because hubby and I live up a mountain and 3 miles up a dirt road, it's not uncommon for us to lose electricity. This is something we have learned to be prepared for. Since we are expecting more ice and at least 7 to 8 more inches of snow, we fought the huge crowd at the store (we here in the sticks freak out if they call for snow, so we all end up flooding to the stores to stock up...lol) to buy enough supplies for us just in case we lose electricity...again. We've lost it up to almost 4 days in a row this year. I hope not to repeat that performance. Living without warm water, lights, heat and so on is not exactly my idea of a good time. What sucks even more is because we live so far away from family, we can hole up at any of their houses either. Sigh.

My niece, Snow White, enjoyed the snow yesterday. I wish I had been there in person to see her enjoy making a snowman and having a snowball fight with my brother in law and sister...that would have been a hoot! I thought I'd share her picture with y'all. I love the look of pure joy on her face.

If we keep electric...lol...I plan on almost completing my current work in progress 'Daddies Little Girl'. I am still undecided as to where I'm going to submit it. I figure once I'm done, I'll know where it should go. I still haven't decided what in the world I'm going to do with Got Mistletoe?. I hope to figure that one out too.

I hope everyone has a safe and warm week ahead.

Happy Saturday!

It is soooo cold outside! We had several inches of snow last night, so today is a good day to laze around and do nothing!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Brrr!!

Like most of the U.S. we have been hit by some very nasty weather. We've had sleet, snow and freezing rain and temperatures well below freezing. Since we live three miles down a dirt road, our road is very slippery. To make matters worse, we lose electricity at the drop of a hat. It's been blinking on and off, so we try to be prepared by keeping our generator handy, as well as plenty of kerosene for our heater.  Our animals hate the cold, and they'd been couped up inside, miserable and probably wishing for warmer weather. Oddly, the cold doesn't bother me as much. Since I HATE hot weather, I refuse to complain too much about it. I know it won't be long and we'll be enduring 105 plus degrees outside. Now that is something I do not look forward too.

I've been working on my current WIP and it's still coming along quite nicely. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do with Got Mistletoe? but I'll figure it out eventually.

I hope everyone has a great day.

I've got the rights back for Got Mistletoe?

It's been a good week. I've been doing a good amount of writing. I'm enjoying how my characters continue to talk to me and so far I'm really loving what they're saying.

This week I received the rights back from my first book, Got Mistletoe? Now I face the dilemma of what to do with it. Should I submit it to another publisher? Should I add to it and self-publish? Should I make it a free story? Should I just let it go for a little while?  I honestly don't have any idea what to do with it. The thing is...I really love those two men and I always intended to write more about them. But then I'd wonder if I should let the story end where it should...ugh...I'm so conflicted.  Do y'all have any suggestions?

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Meet Sasha

Hello Friends!

It's been a pretty good week for me. I've been working hard on my current WIP and hope to have it finished soon. My boys are being quite talkative, so it's been a pretty smooth book to write.

I've been trying to be more active on the social media. I think I'm doing better, but in all honesty, most of the time I wonder if people really do care about what I post or not. I mean, who really wants to know what I ate last night? One thing that totally mystifies me is the 'selfie'.  Now, I will be first to admit that I avoid the camera like the plague. I hate getting my picture taken, so me taking a selfie is pretty slim to none. *grin* But having said this, what makes someone want to take a pic of themselves...in just about any situation...even if it's embarrassing or not and want to share it? I have a few people that I follow that take selfies of themselves everyday. Between us, it really kind of cracks me up because I wonder if other people really DO want to see a picture of the same person everyday.

I can't believe I forgot to tell y'all that we adopted our first cat!!  (pictured above) Three months ago, I was in the front yard with my dogs and I look up and see this skinny, young cat running to me as if the hounds of hell were after him. I immediately fell in love and to my delight, our dogs and my sweet husband soon fell under his spell too.

He has taken to our family perfectly. Our dogs get along great with him...in fact, he and Snookie are pretty close. Now I can't imagine life without him. We named him Sasha and everyday his cat behavior ends up fascinating me more. They are very different than dogs, and I find that I've become a cat person...which is something I never thought I'd be. He's a total indoor cat, so he often looks out the window and pines to be outside, and to his dismay, he's going to be housebound. There are too many stray dogs and wild animals that live in the forest right across the street from us. Sooo...I'm giving y'all a fair warning...I love our four legged babies, so expect pictures and for me to gush about them in the future!

Here is Sasha sleeping comfortably with his best friend Snookie:

Aren't they adorable together? We sure do love our babies!

I hope everyone has a great week ahead!! *HUGS*

Happy Thursday!!

Happy Thursday!

I had a good couple of days with my husband. He works weekends and  a lot of overtime, so the moments we spend together are precious to me.  We are both getting over the flu and we still have the cough from hell, but we're better. Last night, we rented movies and spent the majority of it watching them, which was really nice.

I'm going to finish one of my WIP's before the month is over. I'm pretty excited over finally taking the time and finishing it, but it's been on my mind heavily these past few days and it's time to finish their story. I'll have more about it at the end of the week...promise.

Have a great day, everyone!! *HUGS*

I'm back!

It's been awhile since I've blogged. Frankly, my life has been pretty hectic last year, so I hope that this year I'll be able to focus more than I have in the past. My resolution this year is to get out of the cave I've put myself in and become more socializing on the social network scene. We'll see because I've never been one to post a lot on here, facebook and twitter...but I'm going to try harder.

On a positive note I've got three works in progress I'm working on. I hope to have at least one of them finished by the end of the month. I think I'm going to submit it somewhere new, so I'm pretty anxious about it.

My beautiful niece is in first grade...can you believe it?  I had to post a picture to show you how much she's changed this past year...it's amazing how much she's growing up!
