Charlie always makes me feel better

I keep seeing on the news that the recession is over. I find that hard to believe because here in the backwoods of Paris, Arkansas is still feeling the sting of hard times. Everyone I know is struggling to make ends meet. I, myself have been looking for a job for several months now, and despite submitting countless resumes, have yet to get an interview. Chris said that maybe it's different in other bigger cities and states, but I'm not so sure. I really don't believe it, so I'm curious if my friends here have seen any changes in the cities and states you live in.

Chris is working an extra day today to get some overtime. Thank goodness his job does allow overtime sometimes, or we'd be in trouble. Since I'm alone again tonight, I'm going to work on Allen and Shiloh's story. That ought to cheer me up!

Here's a picture of Allen...I mean Charlie David! Looking at him always makes me feel better:)

Y'all have a great night!

  2. I figure it's all media hype to make us all think it's over. I'll believe it when it starts getting better here, too.

  3. My son's been looking for a part time job to help out while he goes to school and no luck. Not even McD's is hiring in our little town.

  4. Same thing here, and I live in the 'burbs of a big city....one that was recently named #1 in the country for vacant office space. sigh.

  5. I'm pretty out of touch (I'm fortunate I guess), so I'm not sure what job prospects are like here. (Now I'll have to look)

Chin up sweetie, you'll be grumbling about your boss before you know it!

And you're right, Charlie is a good moodlifter! Probably a kiltlifter too, if there are any gay Scots out there.

  6. Thanks y'all:) I know I'll find something soon. I just get angry when the press says the recession is coming to and end, and we see no end in sight here.

Thanks for letting me vent! Y'all are great friends:)

  7. I've been seeing that bullshit on the news too. There is no way in hell that the recession is over, Shell. My lover and I are struggling too. We'll all make it thorough this. We have each other.

  8. If the recession is over, then why is my school system gearing up to dismiss several teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, and the school resource officers? I've already had to take unpaid furloughs this year, the state froze my salary, etc. I'm lucky, though, because I still have a job. So many people in our community are jobless. Almost all our factories have closed. I'd love to find that one city that isn't battling recession so I could encourage some of my students' parents to move there. I have students who write in their journals about not having electricity, etc. because their parents got laid off. I offer free tutoring after school, but the kids can't stay because their parents can't afford the gas and there's no such thing as public transportation in this rural area. Sigh . . . Sorry, this is a rant that I could go on and on with.
